A week and 2 days: Met a non-RSAF Singaporean & bought our car

I can't stress more that it's really very inconvenient to not have a car here. Even when we wanted to dine at the street across our hotel few days back, there wasn't a proper pathway for pedestrians. We had to walk on pebbles and worse thing was, we were pushing AN's pram. Wonder if people cross the roads at all, or drive even if they needed to just get across the road. hmm..

Mr Liow had to return to the office for half a day today and came back in a borrowed a car from his Encik (dunno who that is tho) and we were slightly more independant today than we had been for the past week.

He said it was thrilling to drive back to Edwin's place from Pina (Pinal?) Air Park (their work venue). The journey took half an hour and he travelled at 80mph. Thrilling, and scary. hee.

We then went out for lunch. We'd wanted to have lunch at New China Buffet (buffets here cost much cheaper than ala carte menu..don't understand why) but the road was closed and being unfamiliar with the roads here and Mr Liow driving on his own for the 1st time here, we decided to have lunch somewhere nearby, at Panda Express.

A chinese lady from Panda Express who served Mr Liow found his accent familiar and asked if he is from Singapore. She is also a Singaporean! It is nice to find someone from the same 'hometown'. She lived in Hawaii for 11 yrs and worked at (let me check with Mr Liow how to spell this state) for 2 yrs. She'll be in Tucson for 2 wks before she return to (the name of the state which I can't spell). She seemed to be really happy to see us coz she actually came out of the kitchen to speak to us once less customers came in. We all agreed that we won't expect to find Singaporeans in Tucson coz we don't suppose anyone would be interested to visit Tucson for holidays. hee. She wasn't aware that if she does find Singaporeans here, they are most likely from RSAF.

After lunch, Mr Liow got a call from Chee Kiong who had been helping us find a car (so sweet of him!! And the rest of those who had been ferrying us ard and helping us keep a lookout for cars) that he got spoke to a lady selling Town and Country.

He then came to bring us to view the car.

Mr Liow took the car for a drive and liked the performance of the car. I thought the interior of the car looked new and in almost perfect condition. It's a 2005 model but felt like 80% new.

It was $3K more expensive than the car we test-drove at a car dealers on 1st May but this one is way better with no problems at all, and it's 3.8l as compared to the previous 3.3l.

Mr Liow put a $100 deposit to secure the car. We'll get the documentations done on Friday. He'll be away at Mesa for some conference thingy from Tuesday thru Thursday so won't be able to settle the car till Friday.

We'll be moving out of Edwin's place tomorrow and checking into Holiday Inn Express. Shld be staying there till Friday (9th May) but praying that it won't be any later than that for us to get the keys to our house.

So if I do get to surf, it'll be from the Inn tomorrow.

Please pray for journey mercy as mr Liow travels to Mesa (it's 2.5hrs drive from Tucson and 2.5hrs back) and safety for AN and I as we settle down in the Inn for the 2-3 days without Mr Liow around. He said he'll be leaving the hotel at 5am and I expect that he will reach the hotel after the event by 7pm earliest everyday. It'll be just AN and I for 15hrs for the nxt 2-3days from Tuesday.

I'm looking forward to the day we have our own home. Please keep us in prayers :) Thanks guys :)
